what are your views on logan's actions in his first relationship

Loved the movie. great source material. great direction. awesome performances. just one thing that makes me wanna dig deep. we do sympathize with logan's character. really terrible things happened to him, however, does that justify his actions during the truth or dare. i am glad the voiceover kind of makes us feel that logan believes the sam kiss was one of the worst things that he did. but setting the voiceover aside, any person who has gone though so much crap in life should just be ecstatic at being a part of such a group, and having such an awesome "older" girlfriend, so logically speaking, why would he mess it all up by doing something that silly. i do not see that happening in real life. i do understand that he was sort of feeling uncomfortable in the relationship, primarily because he always had the hots for emma, secondarily for other reasons; but still, he came across as more submissive, than assertive, so i suppose he would have gone on with the relationship, till it ended on it's own, maybe sometime after she went off to college, rather than do something rash like he did during the game, knowing that it would unnecessarily put him in the spotlight, something that an introvert doesn't really enjoy. alternatively, he cud have talked about the issues in the relationship privately to Mary elizabeth. It's just that his action in the truth or dare game is the only thing that i find a little unrealistic, in an otherwise brilliant move. any views on this? p.s. logan's character, throughout the film, is one of the nicest, sweetest people around, so his action during the game just seems too unrealistic and impractical for me.

I agree, unrealistic for someone who is too shy to say anything to even hurt Mary Elizabeth's feelings. I guess you're supposed to think it was one of those wild, in the moment, call of the void moments and that he impulsively knew it would end the relationship without having to say anything. But why would he risk losing all his friends over something like that?

Just made for a good drama moment in a teen movie is all.

true. nice insight.

He finds himself involved with one person, in love with another and no experience of how to resolve the situation. His action is clumsy, unkind and probably thoughtless but not unrealistic - at least that's how I saw it. Not comfortable to watch, in fact a bit of a car crash moment. All part of the character and his friends, who are after all a bit older, growing up I guess.

hmm. unkind definitely. which is double checked by the voiceover( he being the narrator himself). i guess it was one of those moments to which a person like the character in discussion, would look back later, and realize how the situation could have been dealt differently.
