I'm really interested in watching more movies like this, that mixture of drama,romance and comedy...
As far as I know I've seen some similar movies to this one : Its a kind of funny story, 500 days of summer, What if, Smashed.
I'd also like to hear from others, so bring it on!

shareAn oldie but goldie is Rebel Without A Cause. Not quite as deep as this, but really good for its time. It too is about trying to fit in, friendship, and generally trying to make sense of it all. Great actors all.

Almost Famous - one of my all time favorites! Similar main characters and themes but set in the 1970s
Fast Times at Ridgemont High - similar in that it follows a year in lives of high school students
Napoleon Dynamite - If Perks were a comedy
Jeremy - similar themes of social shyness and romance
Juno - similar feel and story structure
I second Almost Famous.
I was thinking that had a similar feel to Perks.
