Can someone explain the molestation part from the book

So the Aunt molested him when he was little.

How much the book dwell on this? How was it explained? How much Charlie remembers?

thanks

Who cares about the book.
This is a film based on a book, enjoy the film and later read the book, they are not the same thing.

Thank you for answering that. I wondered. Logan was so great In the scenes. When Charlie calls his sister I start crying.

In the book, Charlie mentions aunt Helen in his letters pretty often, but unlike in the film, in the book you can feel a weird vibe and can tell she's done something to him. Aunt Helen is a big part of the plot - a sub-story, and the reason for Charlie's actions and thinking pattern. Similar to the film, the abuse isn't explicit in the book either, but Charlie's thoughts are a lot clearer in the book. He doesn't try to find her reasons for the thing she had done to him, and still remembers parts of his childhood involving her and her special attention toward him. The author-director put child molestation very subtly and tenderly both in the book and the film and I like it that way.
