I thought it looked like she had emphysema. Typically, people die from asthma when they lose their inhaler or don't have one...or so I thought. I'm confused about how she died of asthma, because I thought asthma was a well controlled illness. Even back then, didn't they have inhalers?

Maybe inhalers lose their effeciveness the more you rely on them as a crutch. That happens with a lot of medicines

If you ever had a parent die of lung cancer, you might recognize the symptoms.
I assumed it was lung cancer. Im sure she may have had a form of asma but she didnt die from asma. I thought it was pretty obvious on the cancer part. The inhaler was to help her breath. The same as someone taking pain killers, doesnt mean they have a headache it could be they are in pain from a physical ailment like arthritis or something.
