so?
Just like Hugh Grant always play a stuid romantic guy?
Just like Morgan Freeman always play this smart old nice guy?
Just like Bradley Cooper always play a cool alpha male?
Just like Owen Wilson play a not too smart, but harmless cool dude?
Most actors got a type of person that they do best. Thank god that Jason got enough sense to not fall into the trap and do *beep* family comedy or something like that.
Typecasting is not nice, but it often works, and the other poster is right, he better keep doing what he's best at and not try to be a "versatile actor" which he certainly isn't. Statham's good at this, he just need to chose films carefully.
PS: He's also played a cops and knights haha
"That was a courtesy flush. I'm not actually done yet"
He's in a lot of movies with weak scripts, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad actor. Ever seen Snatch or Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels? He plays a cool guy in both of those, but he's hardly a badass in either. I don't think he "takes down" anyone in either movie, in fact he tends to get his ass kicked and he's not completely confident. And he's good in the roles, so he's not necessarily limited to elite action hero.

I have - GREAT movies!
And wasn't saying he doesn't have range, or that he's being type-casted... I was just saying it's funny that the last handful of movies had almost the exact same first sentence in the synopsis.
I think that Statham is capable of being the next great action star!
I also think he is in a lot of $hitty action movies... I wish a great action movie would find him... SOON!
