10th floor at the hotel.

NO WAY would Luke and Mei:
a) Hear the gunshots in the reception
b) See what was going on 10 floors below as the viewer saw when Luke pulled back the curtain.
More plausible if they were on the 4th floor.

I guess you don't live in NYC or have been in a high-rise...or heard a machine gun in real life..
I grew up in NYC and lived on the 20th floor of an upper east-side apt. You can damn well be sure that you could easily hear the sound of gunshots, esp. automatic weapons.. Gee...I remember jumping up from my chair when a truck backfired on 2nd Ave 20 floors below, and if you have ever heard real automatic fire like I have for real, you would know that YES, YOU CAN hear it from 10 floors up...and whats the big deal about seeing police cars with flashing lights, sirens, and hundreds of screaming, panic people running into the street?
Again, Luke was 10 flights up, not on the moon...
YES WAY!!!

This was a deluxe hotel, so sound-proofing would have eliminated noise.
I lived in Hong Kong on an 8th floor high rise in Causeway bay, and you didn't hear much at all.......and that is a BUSY metropolis!

Or he was still prepared for trouble, plus maybe an ex-cop (at least partly) so left the windows cracked so he would be sure to hear ambient noise outside.

This is not by a wide margin the most unbelievable thing in the movie.
