Would Statham make a good Bond?

He's got the accent and athleticism for the part. Yes he has a slight hairline problem, but so did connery. His big problem is he looks kinda stupid and JB is supposed to be a clever man.

Plus, he can't act

Well, he can and he can't. You are right that he probably couldn't act as a totally different character (let alone James Bond), but he has enough charisma and presence to him that he passes of as a quite good movie character, which can still be viewed as an form of acting.

But Statham as James Bond would be a laugh... he is exact opposite of the character. Statham's background is actually what he did in his first role in Lock, Stock and Two smoking barrels. He was a street hustler and was selling stolen jewelry and perfumes (reason why got the role in the first place). Can't imagine Bond like that :) humorless, disgruntled brute with a heart of gold (aka Statham's movie persona).

I didn't pay much attention to your comment. I'm actually surprised and shocked that I didn't get a negative response to my comment. Congrats, you made your point and wasn't offensive which is pretty hard to find in the internet!!!!

He probably would be better than Craig.

*beep* that vinnie jones would be a far more superior bond than statham

Both men are too working-class for the role. They look like bouncers whereas someone like Clive Owen or Gary Daniels would have been more suited due to their elegant features.
