Whats is the point of the chinese girl??!!

Did i miss something or is this movie really stupid?!!
why did the mob hire the little chinese girl in the first place? is it only to memorize the financial statements of their businesses??!!!! and their argument is that computers couldn't be trusted because they could be hacked or something?! also why did the mob kill the casino manager in the beginning? they mentioned in the movie, that he didn't make a profit and he lost money! how on earth, is this a good reason to kill one of ur employees! did the mob kill all its employees during the recession as well??

also why was the girl used to memorize a long number? there r other million ways of saving a long number, and eventually jason statham wrote on a piece of paper (its not rocket science)

They probably want to get the people in China to watch it.

If they wanted people from China to watch this film, they properly should of hired actors who can speak better mandarin. LOL!!

OP is stupid, not the movie. Han Jiao is old school and he doesn't trust important info to computers cause it can be traced. You saw how he even counted on abacus. The girl has an extraordinary aptitude for math and also photographic memory. A perfect "gadget" for transfering and storing number-related info. You can't trace or retrieve data from human memory.

And Statham's character burnt that piece of paper after he memorized the number.

The casino manager probably knew too much to be just fired and let go.

WOW....ORIGINAL POSTER...you missed quite a lot...! This was actually quite a smart movie. The girl wasn't 'hired', it's the casino manager's job to keep profits up...but he could have had employees stealing from him too...in that world if there's ANY kind of loss the casino manager would be held responsible.

The girl memorized a lot of different numbers and accounts. But...this time, this number was more important than the rest. If you can find a human mind that works like a computer, it is much safer hiding information that can't be tracked except by the person who holds it within their mind.

This is so stupid LOL. What if she dies in an accident or get hit by a stray bullet? Or even die from a food poisoning or meningitis?

I understood it as the casino manager or employees were embezzling cash which is why they were "losing" money. they killed him and said when the new manager comes in and it happens again he will not just kill him but everyone.

Exactly. Somebody at the Casino was obviously skiming of the top, profits went up from the previous week in every other business, but the casino's profits were going down. Made an example of the manager to keep the rest of the employees in check.

Without doubt this was the most baffling thing for me as well. It appears Wright (Stratham) had the same mathematical brilliance and photographic memory as the girl; or so I'm lead to believe by his ability to also retain the safe combination in his own head. I'm assuming Han Jiao's original plan would probably have been for the little girl to reveal the safe combination hidden in her head to his men (at the very last moment possible) just before they were to launch their own deadly armed invasion on the casino/illegal gambling establishment and take the money.
