No Lipstick Mark?

I really did love this film. One little thing bothered me at the very end. When Marilyn showed up at the pub to say goodbye to Colin, he walked outside with her to the car. She was wearing VERY bright red lipstick, kissed him, and he didn't have the slightest trace of red on his face. This is the one moment that jolted me out of reality when watching this film.

I noticed that as well. I wonder why they didn't leave the lipstick mark.

You may have noticed it didn't come off in any scene where she kissed someone, including when she kissed her co-star. Actresses have access to better quality makeup than ordinary women, with better staying power. It would be pretty annoying to be wiping off the lipstick mark after every take, wouldn't it?

There should have/would have been a lipstick mark. And when he went back into the bar, all the blokes would have envied him.

"great minds think differently"

I'm pretty sure they made the mistake of using modern lip "paint" style lipsticks in this movie. I don't believe anything in use in the 50's would have NOT left a mark on the kiss recipient.
