I think Charlize Theron would have been a better choice

She is too old. Ten years ago I made a list of movie ideas and one idea I had was a Marilyn Monroe bio pic with Charlize.

You are right-- more important than the looks (good makeup will take care of that) is that Charlize has more acting ability.

Michelle Williams looks NOTHING like MM

Charlize Theron is one of my favorite actresses. She is beautiful. I would have really liked to see her is this. She does not really have her body but she would have been amazing in it. You will not see anyone who looks just like Marilyn. I think she could pull it off.

She looks nothing like Marilyn. Granted she's more famous but that doesn't mean she could play the part or even look the part. She's too artificial. She's got a great look on glossy magazine covers for sure but she's way too cold to exude the raw sexuality that made Marilyn who she was. Not to mention she has the kind of "all bones/no meat" physique that's Hollywood now.

I'd love to see CT play MM.

CT does not look like MM, but MW doesn't either and I thought she did a great job.

Charlize is too tall.

Too tall, totally different body type, and doesn't look like Marilyn at all. Michelle has some similarities, and her body (though a 'ruler' not 'pear' like Marilyn) looks more like Marilyn's. As far as acting goes, yes, I think Charlize is a better actress. But she lacks Marilyn's innocence and sweetness. She looks too cold, but yes, very stunning. I think Michelle did well in this. One of her best performance.
