Was the ending. All the demon zombies are frozen in place thanks to the priest over the P.A Then when they think they are home free. BAM! The grandfather with the terrible hearing aid bites the wife! After the failed attempt to cut off the infection she pukes up blood after discovering the front gate is quarantined off. So the husband match out the front gate with the bride in his hands. The husband gives the wife one last kiss. Her infection fully takes over and the wife rips out the husbands tongue causing the swat team surrounding them to kill them both. The last shot we see is of the husband and wife holding each other hands and the swat team entering the reception grounds.
Im glad it ended this way. I might be the only one but I am getting tired how most movies this pass kind of made happy endings very generic. I really needed to see a movie end like this year.
I HATED the ending. It felt into the rut a lot of horror movies suffer from. If women are not to survive, then they all must die. There is so few movies out there were men actually survive alone or with others in recent times. It's all the final girl cliche or they all die in the end type of endings we get. I'm *beep* sick of it so I am. *beep* sick of it!. See when I saw her get bitten by one of the infected/possessed at the end. I thought to myself as it happened "right she either dies and he survives which would be cool as this doesn't often happen. Or he gets himself killed alonside her as it's not PC to let men live and women die in horror movies these days".
You can tell a lot about most horror movies these days before you even watch them. Looking at the cast etc etc. Like if it's a female lead or a main female lead among male leads, the female leadmore often than naught lives longer than everyone else. Most movies don't have the happy endings as you stated, my friend. They do however have the dreaded and burned out final girl cliche added. Or they all die. It would be nice to have a movie end with a guy standing alone at the end FOR ONCE. A couple of times at the end of this movie made me think I was going to get my wish. But as fate would have it, it wasn't to be.
These idiots need to get out of this mentality of ending horror movies like this movie did.
I agree soo much with what Trioxin_Zombie says. Its almost like clockwork that a modern horror movie will have either everyone except 1 a girl living at the end.
But think about it! The priest is still alive beyond the last we see of him. We don't see his fate, but we can assume he knows enough bible verse to keep the demons off for a while. So I think that makes the priest last man standing.
I personally thought the ending was terrible. Clara for one was too badass to die. She should have lived and come back in [Rec] 4 for at least a cameo in all her one-armed glory. But after she got bitten and I'd resigned her to death, the part where she rips out her husband's tongue and then they hold hands as they die was just way too over the top. I don't care how in love you are, if my wife ripped out my tongue on my wedding day and got me shot, I'm pretty sure I'd be in waaaay too much pain to even think about holding her hand. And the fact that she was fully zombified and tried to hold his? Sure.
"You left your kids in the car?!" "Hello, I cracked the windows."
Clara wasn't 'badass'... that was part of what was so funny. She gets the chainsaw but it turns out to be kind of a crappy weapon (good for a movie poster pose though). She kills a few demon-zombies with it and then drops the whole idea. Mostly she's an annoying 'Bridezilla' who has a bout of rage because 'her day' has been truncated by the demon-zombie apocalypse. Really, up until the demon-zombies attack... pretty much everyone in this movie is annoying bunch of clot-poles. Loud and stupid and that's about it. It was a pleasure seeing their big magical wedding shot to hell. Clara is just a snotty rich girl who was mad things didn't go her way.
Anyway, I liked the movie because it took a big dump on the whole romantic marriage thing.
that scene before the priest on the PA where the wife and husband were surrounded. i thought it would be a nice ending for them to hold each other and get consumed. but at the same time before the priest came to the rescue. i was laughing thinking "it's too bad they don't know any bible verses to save themselves. but i thought that ending wouldn've worked being consumed by the dead. but this ending i liked too.
Just a mildly entertaining movie, but that ending was a definite highlight. I'm a sucker for tragic-romantic endings in gneral, but after seeing the entire party descend into a bloodbath I also think it t was better to just let everyone die together. The recent Warm Bodies would have been much better if it pulled off an ending like this.
