never got the impression selma's character was attracted to kevin james

even in the end, when he asked for a kiss she seemed extremely hesitant

reply

No, she wasn't supposed to be attracted to him. That was more of a congratulations kiss than anything.

Hey Ken Howard/Reeves

I don't know that congratulations kiss seem to last a little too long.

You don't know me.
You only think you do.

reply

Of course, cause it was more cinematic that way; the crowd was cheering for him, the music was swelling, it wouldn't have fit the scene for her just to give him a quick peck on the lips.

Btw, I don't know who Ken Howard/Reeves is.

Your screen name is from one of the greatest shows of the 70's.

His name is more likely from the new Dreamworks picture "Turbo". A good film I might add.

I think bella and nick were just good friends.

if she hadn't been at least slightly attracted to him, he never would have gotten to the 15/0 ask out shot down number...

she would have long since reported him for harrassment.
she made it clear in the film with her whole you never even stand up when you ask me out scene... she was willing to see something in him, but he had to stand up and show it to her...
she even said "i think i would have liked that you better" when he was talking about his early more enthusiastic school years... then did a double take when she waw him standing on the desk later.

this wasn't even subtle, it was all pretty clear, she wasn't into him at first, but she wasn't not into him either, and that makes all the difference.

reply

She was getting more into him, because she saw him start to care about his students more and stuff like that.

But she was never really going crazy over him.

Heck, have Salma totally fall all over herself for him would make this whole thingy even that much more ludicrous; it was quite a fantasy already.

Now, this is a signature gun, and that is an optical palm reader.

she probably didn't find him physically attractive.
But then he won her over. This happens. You will see someone try to date another person, and the person says no,
But over time they get to know each other, and they get to talk and see what's on the inside.

When she saw how much he cared for the class and for the students and how much he was trying to do the right thing she probably liked that about him more than the physical stuff.

It's like when there is a woman you don't find attractive but you learn she is wild in bed, and then you start liking her because of that.

One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

I have seen this film and wrote a very long review about it ( more about Bella ( Salma Hayak) than anyone). Bella was always attracted to him, she even commented about " He never asked her out standing up." In the final scene he was holding hands with Bella. There are also no scenes that featured Bella where Scott was not involved ( I loved the scene where she knocked Dietrich's loud mouth supporter down). The thing to keep in mind about Bella, is she was respectable and decent and the only way she would accept Scott or anyone, was they were respectable as well. My interpretation of the end of the film was Scott did what he was supposed to do, which was to save the Music Program, assist the immigrants in becoming citizens, help his brother and family, and regain his dignity and self esteem. Now that this was all done, he will likely go away with Bella, and start to do Scott. Bella will not only go with him, but be happy to go with him, because he proved himself worthy of her. That relationship had " a Happily Ever After" written all over it
