What's with every American movie with Indians has the world million?

Slum Dog Millionaire
Million Dollar Arm

Is the word million in Indian culture a lucky word like happy, lucky, dragon and the colour red are lucky for the Chinese?

Wow, two examples, don't think too hard, you might pop a vessel.

You don't have to be a jerk. I was just wondering why.
I don't have to try too hard on IMDB because it's not too chalked full of people with even average IQ and a lot of people that are emotionally unstable with anger issues such as yourself.

Well when you make a claim that every American movie with Indians has the word million in it's title and you can only name two, that pretty much discredits your entire point.

reply

I'm not writing my thesis here. I figured 2 examples were enough to make my point professor.

I though the same thing too! I guess it must be lucky to have the word "million" in the title. Perhaps hoping that the movie will earn millions of dollars! LOL!

Interestingly, the music of both the movies was scored by A.R. Rahman

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!

reply

Consisting this was based on a true story and the game show in real life was called "million dollar arm" I feel like it's appropriately named

Wait a minute...isn't Million Dollar Arm about baseball scouting?

reply

Slum dog was a British film and not from the US.

reply

Touché.

reply

Life of Pi does not have a million in it.

I don't think Hollywood is trying to make too many movies about Indians.

reply

Coincidence perhaps?

Then again, why does it matter? It's not like the word is exclusively meant to be used for a certain type of movie. They have titles like "Million Dollar Baby" and more recently "A million ways to die in the West". None of these movies have any Indian characters, not in a major role anyway.

reply

Yes, but Pi has much more than a million digits in it, so it still fits the stereotype.

I'm just joking... This is a stupid thread with little foundation.

reply

How stupid the question is? Its a movie based on the reality shows that are titled "who wants to be millionaire" and "Million dollar arm" and hence the million in the title. There are 100's of movies made and only you can give 2 and stereotype ?
