Hollywood is so racist

I've been to India and they have elevators. I'm sure even the poorest city has heard of a *beep* elevator lol. Why does Hollywood have to make us white people look bad?

reply

Have you all seen that the real kid did it who the movie is based on?
No matter where you're from, if you're poor you've probably never used an elevator....

Not to say Hollywood isn't racist though.....

"You've got red on you"

reply

Yea but the elevator probably had some guys behind the building pulling ropes or something...

Funny (sort of) many, many folks in Compton have never seen the ocean and it's 10 miles from their homes. They may have heard of it however the concept is completely foreign to them. This in arguably the most powerful nation in the world and one of the world's most prosperous cities. Too many of those same people have been raised and never left the few square miles that make up their "hood". I find to easy to believe that in a Country where the Caste system is still honored and children are regularly hobbled so they can "live" as beggers on rolling platforms, that the concept of elevators might be amazing and new.
Not to say that Hollywood isn't stuck in a rut when it comes to race and creed but so often are the folks that don't understand the poverty in our own locals...

I thought the whole Movie was pretty Racist. It wasn't just the way they showed the poverty it was the way they compared it to the US. Not all US citizens live in mansions by the beach.
I was dissapointed by the film/movie which seemed to be more about how great America is and being wealthy is all that's important in life.

I actually got the opposite message - from my perspective it showed how all of the clean glitz, large homes, fancy ballparks and training facilities, can't make up for human caring and the sense of family.

My name is Gladiator - Maximus Decimus Meridius

Well to be honest I'm sure he knew about it but still didn't use it.
Not everyone uses everything others do.
There are still people still new to cell phones especially smart phones.
Being Half South Asian I'm saying Hollywood does want to base it on race at times but it doesn't brutally do it on purpose.
