Baseball or football?
So obviously from the movie, J B Bernstein and his associate were baseball managers, but that Poco they were courting was a football player, so I don't get it.

They were Agents for Professional Athletes, not for a single sport. Getting them contracts for career milestones, commercials, merchandising, and renewals of contracts with the Teams.
If Football-Baseball in the movie was confusing, know that J.B. Bernstein was under contract with MLS (Soccer) from 1995-97 where he was in charge of liscensing and the entire Leagues merchantising program.
Sports agents respresent atethes of all sports. In anything they know and can make money off of. These were not single sports agents.

they were sports agents, so naturally they knew about sports, but definitely not experts thats why they had tom house and the scout help them
