The best scene? (spoilers)
Just wondering what other people's favorite scene was from this movie?
MINE WAS: When Bok-Nam's husband had her hands tied up and he was holding Hae-won and threatening to kill her, and Bok-Nam began licking the knife and basically felating it. I thought the knife's symbolism was so awesome, and represented how death would be a relief for Bok-Nam, as her true "death" was the torture of being so alone and surrounded by horror, and being raped and sexually violated by these horrible men who violently beat her. Sex was not something positive for her, it was a way she was abused, but she knew from the past that her beauty and sexuality could both bring her life and death. It wasn't completely believable a man would react in the way he did, letting her then suck on his fingers, after she massacred his family, but obviously he was a perverted mother-***er, so it was believable enough. And then when she bit them off, it looked real and made me clench my jaw in horror! I thought her holding the knife in her mouth also in a felatio style when she stabbed him was also a morbidly satisfying way to have that sick *beep* get killed. "How does that feel?"
I loved everything about this film, and have the deepest respect for the director who did this. It was one of the most raw and powerful and disgusting and disturbing movies I've seen recently, and mainly because it was so real. Even if you hated this movie, learn from it. Learn how to be more compassionate and understanding than Hae-won, learn to be strong and hopeful like Bok-Nam, and fight with all you have for the right to be happy, and learn to not turn a blind eye to anything that you know is wrong.
sometimes living with what you didn't do is far worse than dying knowing what you did do.
