When you take out the Wonderful Shakespearean Dialogue

Did anyone else notice how ridiculous the story is? I mean I love Romeo and Juliet but after seeing this Ive come to realize that when you take out the dialogue there is a really a lot of plot holes in the story.

- "Oh my dear God" after he realizes Juliet is a Capulet.

-"I must say you have good taste in men"

-"I hardly know him"

list goes on...SMH. So dumbed down.

reply

That's not from the play that's the dumbed down version your talking about from this movie.

Exactly what I meant. I was just astonished at how idiotic it sounded when I finally watched the film.
It's a visually stunning movie, but other than that...it's horrific.

reply

Oh I thought you meant that those lines were from the play.Thank god. I agree visually stunning other than that horrific.

I edited that post...it did seem like I was defending the dumbed down dialogue hahaha

I feel as if they stuck to the original lines and picked a different Juliet..it would of be pretty great. Not as good as the 1968 but still a hell of a lot better.

Oh I agree and I hated the way fight scene between Tybalt/Mercutio/Romeo which is usually one of my favorite scenes.
