Did anyone else think Damian Lewis sucked in this?

He was easily the worst in this. Just really fake and over-acting at points. I hope he isn't this bad in everything he does. Hopefully this was just bad direction, otherwise how did he ever win an Emmy?

I also didn't like all of the added bits into the movie (like the opening scene for example). It just really threw me off guard.

It was probably a mix of bad direction and that compared to the lack of acting in the leads, he looked like he was overacting. Paul Giamatti suffered from it too in this film. It's so bad, it made everyone in it look bad.

I think it was bad directing. It wasn't really bad acting, it was just that Damian Lewis is so used to stage performances of Shakespeare that he just did it as he always did instead of adapting to screen.
