Has there been any word whether there will be new episodes?

As the subject asks, has there been any word whether there will be new episodes... this year? I really enjoy this show. Of course I don't believe what they say is gospel, but they do film in some very interesting and beautiful areas.

Thanks.

Me too. Like you, I think it's fluff but find the show quite entertaining. Love the soundtrack, too.

With H2 now gone as of today, it doesn't seem like they'll be showing any new episodes. And History only shows lame reality shows. Goodbye Ancient Aliens, Monster Quest et al.

reply

Ohh i was not aware of that.
Hm, well thats a bummer, not very surprising, but still.

I can't find anything that says History 2 channel has been whacked.

reply

Ah yeah, i guess i just got AA'ed :P

After some Googling, i found this:
"Viceland

In August 2014, A+E Networks bought a 10% stake in Vice Media, whose content is aimed at a young male audience, the same as the content of History and H2. The following April, it was announced that H2 will be rebranded by Vice[4] as a lifestyle channel aimed at millennials, though negotiations and confirmations of the move were not completed until the network's announcement on November 3, 2015.[5] The revamp will take place on February 29, 2016 under the name Viceland On the same day, the Canadian version of The Biography Channel will be relaunched as Viceland, as part of a joint venture between Vice and Rogers Media."

"Under the new name, Vice will choose the shows for the channel and will take over marketing of the new channel. A&E will still own a majority share of the channel, and also will handle distribution and collaborate with Vice on advertising sales. Vice says it has a number of famous or fashionable, youth-appealing names lined up for prime time shows, including Michael K. Williams, Ellen Page, and Eddie Huang. H2's programming library will be reintegrated into History's lineup. According to electronic program guides, the last program as H2 will be a 23-hour marathon of Ancient Aliens from 5AM on the 28th until 4AM on the 29th. After 2 paid programs from 4-5AM, EPGs show the program from 5AM to 6PM as "646-851-0347 Leave a Message", and Viceland will launch at 6PM with an introduction special entitled Welcome to Viceland, followed by "Sneak Peeks" of several programs to be shown on Viceland for the rest of the primetime schedule."

So i guess THIS is your moment for your last AA fix.
EDIT: well, WAS your last moment haha, it is already Vice today.

It appears the new Station will have a LOT LBGTQ content.

Thanks DethstruXioN for the information, and thanks to the others that replied. It's a long shot, but hopefully History will integrate AA into it's schedule if the show is renewed. If not, at least I can watch episodes I archived. I just did a search on Netflix, and it seems they dropped AA from it's line-up. For a while they were offering a single season of AA.

Oh well.

Ya, thanks for the info DethstruXioN. I liked H2. At risk of being mocked, another "educational" channel goes bye-bye and that makes me sad. So now TLC, Discovery, History and H2 have bit the dust and/or turned reality. Maybe the movie Idiocracy is indeed non-fiction.

It is just the continuation of our Devaluation of our nation.

A History Channel replaced with Viceland, just more depravity!!

reply

It seems pretty ironic though.

A vice-like grip on media, aimed at millennials, bringing reality shows.
Its like the pinnacle of everything wrong today.

But, Vice actually does have some good segments sometimes, although i havent watched anything of Viceland, since i dont live in America and havent seen any Viceland uploads coming by.
But it doesnt sound promising, kinda like MTV when they stopped showing music videos.
But maybe it actually will bring some good stuff, i dont know, but eventually, im still kinda sad about AA possibly being gone.
The H2 site lists 'In Search of Aliens' in their programs, but not AA, although i liked that show as well, but it seems that In Search is more likely to pop up on the remaining History Channel instead of AA, but maybe they ditched Giorgio altogether, i dont know.

While i dont consider AA to be educational in the sense of factual science and sound logic, but i do like the concept and subjects on the show. Im kinda sad that my guilty pleasure show might be gone.
It had a longer run than i initially expected it to have though.
EDIT: i just remembered that they apparently had a 23-hour long AA marathon on its last day as H2, so its not like History Channel wanted to get rid of it desperately, otherwise they wouldnt have had this marathon.
So it might not even be gone after all, what if it were true?

reply

I'm sure you know by now that all H2 programs are gone. All H has is yawn stars and swamp hicks. But what's really annoying is before the change we were promised that all are favorite H2 shows were moving to H. Well that was a lie. Big surprise. I don't believe in aliens but the monolithic, megalithic and ancient locations was something I looked forward to.

reply

Same here.

When i did the little research for this thread, i did read that H2 will be moving their favorite programs to H, but AA was not on that list, only In Search of Aliens.
But i dont have cable, neither do i live in USA, so i cant check on the actual standing of the channels.

But if what youre saying is true, then that is a real pity.
Like you, i also dont believe in Aliens (at least not in the way that they portray in AA or programs like UFO hunters etc., i do like to think that there is something out there though), and i always did look forward to seeing the ancient structures on a weekly basis.

The last day of H2 had a 23-hour AA marathon, so i was kinda optimistic that it would be the #1 program to return on H, but i guess it was a final burst and it burnt up, gone.

Although im still hopeful that something similar will pop up again.

Here in the states the history channel has nothing historical anymore. I really enjoyed learning about ancient cultures and seeing the ancient cities. It really is a shame. Take care

reply

Well, I was happy to discover that there have been 2 new episodes aired so far over the last two weeks. I am very pleased to see it has returned.

Thank you, and others who looked into, and commented on this.
