NBC's 'Revolution'. The new Terra Nova?

In case you didn't know, Revolution is a New show coming to NBC. Similarly to Terra Nova, it is also a Post-Apocalyptic show about "starting over" , beginning fifteen years after all technology on the planet mysteriously shuts down. Ironically enough, a family is the central cast, also like Terra Nova. It's about learning how to survive and making a new start when we are thrust back into the dark ages. It's a mystery show of how all technology on earth suddenly shut down all at once and why and who could be behind it. There could be a bigger motive behind it all.

Terra Nova similarities

Starting over after an apocalypse and learning to survive in a new world.

Jungle and woods trekking (cities and towns consumed by plants)

Antagonistic militia, reminding me just a bit of the Sixers

A family is the central focus of the show. Teenagers involved, lol!

It does seem like a spiritual successor to Terra Nova. Makes me wonder if NBC thought they could take a shot at a show like this after Fox dropped the ball with Terra Nova. Only thing missing is the time travel and dinosaurs, .

I'm not implying that is really is inspired by Terra Nova, just that the premise is similar. Family starts over in a new world without technology after the apocalypse and there is a bigger plan, a bigger plot behind everything. It does sound similar doesn't it :). I mean I'm not sure if all technology on earth shutting down is the apocalypse per say since it isn't a result of war or the planet dying, but still, the world is changed.

Anyway, here is the trailer if you haven't seen it yet. I personally will be giving this show a chance. Been looking for a show that was similar to Terra Nova since it was canceled.

Well let's see, the bashing has already began -i.e. Teenage subplots

Man people really hate those things although I felt that Terra Nova handled it best out of all the shows that had one in it.

I remember seeing, "I Was A Teenage Subplot," at a drive-in in the 60's. Great movie!

Thanks for the link, I loved Terra Nova. This new show looks like I will like it. Also Carlos Esposito usually makes me happy, glad he finds steady work.

just watched the trailer, so some of the electricity stops working, mechanical compression systems stop working & the entire industrial out put of the new world appears to be wax candles.

trashing books is like the Special Olympics even if you win & burn them all you are still a retard.

Show looks like crap

I don't think the premise is similar at all.I think the tone might be with the action adventure feel and the teenage subplot, but the actual storylines? No, I don't think so.

I think it could get canned for the same reasons though. It is kind of light and hokey looking. I don't mind that, but not everyone likes it.

Actually, so far it does have a similar premise. The bad guys, the militia, want to figure out how to restore . It's been said that if the head baddie figured out how to get electricity running again, he and his militia could use it to their advantage to take over and steamroll the entire United States. Sounds awfully similar to how Taylor's son wanted to figure out how to make the portal go both ways so he could use a militia to take over Terra Nova, not only to control it of course, but harvest it's resources. So far the premise is very similar actually. Though, unlike Terra Nova, Revolution establishes that scheme in the pilot, rather than closer to the season's end.

Looks terrible. Just like Terra Nova it will be cancelled after the 1st season. It is hokey and sure sign of bad writing. =
