this movie's title will cause a lot of problems

Like many others, I thought this movie was going to be a sequel to the James Cameron movie. There are a lot of stupid people out there, and i predict when this movie is released, there are going to be law suits filed against this movie. Does anyone remember the "Neverending Story" law suits from the early 80s? Apparently people were outraged because the movie actally "ended."

WORTHY FOLLOW ON TO THE BIGGEST CON TRICK IN CINEMA SINCE FOREST GUMP, YES JAMES CAMERONS TITANIC WAS CRAP, AND CRUEL, LETS SET A ROMANCE WITH A BACKGROUND OF PEOPLE DYING EN MASSE, HEY LETS MAKE A ROMCOM SET AROUND THE EVENTS AT COLUMBINE BUT DONT GET TANGLED UP IN TELLING THE MASSACRE SIDE OF THE STORY, JUST PUSH THE ROMANCE, THATLL SELL.

Neither Cameron nor 20th Century Fox own the rights to the word "Titanic". The main charge which this film might face is 'passing off', and you wold have to be monumentally dense to mistake this low-budget effort for an official sequel to one of the most commercially successful movies ever released. Asylum has a history of skating close to the edge with its 'mockbusters' (Snakes on a Train, Transmorphers, The Da Vinci Treasure) and I'd hazard its legal team know just how far to push the company's luck.

I learned at film school that titles aren't copyrighted

However

This wouldn't stop a film company launching an out of court settlement but it'd take time and money so it'd probably not be worth it , especially since Asylum aren't actually releasing their films to cinema - they're either straight to DVD or premier broadcasts on the SyFy channel

It'd probably be a different case if Ayslum tried to release a movie at the cinema called TITANIC 2 or TRANSMORPHERS or SNAKES ON A TRAIN

They should make a Twilight one :)
