Cannibal Holocaust

Did anyone else think that the theme at the start of the film was similar to that of the Canibal Holocaust main theme?

reply

Yeah I thought the exact same thing.

It wouldn't surprise me. Jason Eisener has definitely seen Cannibal Holocaust, since he blatantly ripped its main theme for the opening of Treevenge. Note for note, he stole the song from CH.

It's actually the theme of "Mark of the Devil" by Michael Armstrong. People have drawn parallels to Cannibal Holocaust, though, as all three are exploitation films. Listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngIdaAPxkqo

As for whether he "stole" it... I think it's a nice reference to the seventies exploitation era. I actually have Hobo to thank for introducing me to Mark of the Devil and that beautiful song. Now it brings a tear to my eye whenever I watch the opening. So yeah. cx

Did you listen to the opening music from Treevenge? (Same director as Hobo): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kicdSI_-XpE

He absolutely stole the Cannibal Holocaust main theme, and even credited someone else with creating it.

Yeah, I've watched Treevenge. It's the same deal with Mark of the Devil's theme in Hobo; it's a nice call-back that sets the tone for the story.

HOWEVER... Yeah, what you're saying is pretty bad. The people under "Music by" probably did the cover. Riz Orlanti isn't anywhere in the credits, which pains me as a fan of him. Thanks for enlightening me.

By the way, I like your username. Sounds like a Lovecraftian horror story. cx
