Congratulations to the young director (and writer of Dev.D) for getting his film a slot at Cannes. Hope it gets a wide release in India. They say Indian audiences have matured. We'll only know for sure when they start visiting theatres to watch independent art, the way they flock around puerile trash from Yashraj films.

I loved the little reference to Jim Morrison, himself a poet, with those lines from Break on Through to the Other Side. Totally unexpected from a dying old man, who was probably well into middle age by the time The Doors released that album. But totally worth it, too.

The poems were the best thing about Udaan. They need to bring out a book of the poems or paste them here on IMDB.
