Udaan grabs 7 wins at Filmfare Awards

Generally the Indian film industry is quite shameless in their self-promotions and self-recognition when it comes to awards (making it a cesspool of corruption). But with UDAAN (FLIGHT) grabbing this many awards was a complete shocker! After taking a good hard look at other films that came out of Bollywood this year, UDAAN (FLIGHT) was very well deserving. So it doesn't seem as if they had to bribe their way into the awards, but actually received them on merit.

Best Supporting Actor: Ronit Roy (UDAAN) (The main character's father)

Best Movie (Best Director) (Critics): Vikramaditya Motwane (UDAAN)

Best Story: Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane (UDAAN)

Best Screenplay: Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane (UDAAN)

Best Cinematography: Mahendra Shetty (UDAAN)

Best Sound Design: Kunal Sharma (UDAAN); tied w/Pritam Das (Love Sex Aur Dhokha)

Best Background Score: Amit Trivedi (UDAAN)

The more popular awards (Best Actor or Best Film) are normally tainted, so to me the 'Critics' choice of Best Film has a greater impact.

Lol understatement of the century. Salman Khan should not even be allowed near an award, much less be nominated.

I think bollywood movies are very well discussed on IMDB compared to Hollywood movies where you will always find some Trolls.
Yes Salman Khan really didnt deserve the award but i think there was no choice as Chulbul pandey was received very well.
What i felt the most shocking was that Dabaang won the best movie award i have decided never to watch it again.
And to conclude i would say that bollywood has the most number of overrated actors in the world like Kareena kappor, priyanka chopra, sonam kapoor, recently sharukh khan etc.

I would really even put weight on the "critics" choice for who exactly were these particular critics.
And I do agree with the comment about Salman Khan and his kind.

erm...i may agree to all other years for which Salman has been nominated , but the "Popular" award this year should have been owned by Salman Khan. No role or star was celebrated as Chulbul Pandey.(even his haters will admit that)

for this SRk bought the popular award for My name is khan. He and hritik could have competed for the crtics awards. Even rajat (kid who plays ayan) should have , but guess some one has to give an award to SRK to please him.

before , any one tries to start an argument , heck, salman Khan himself was pissed that he got the critics awards at screen awards , saying that he doesnt consider himself an actor , but an entertainer and felt he deserved to get the popular award , which *shock* went to SRK.

Ontopic - Udaan deserved all the awards it gets !! awesome awesome movie. Hope IIFA is even better for them. Ronit Roy , the kids deserve all the recognition :) !!

SRK deserved the best actor award but Udaan deserved the best film award
