#1: Concerning the poem Rohan recited at the beginning (after the boys get expelled)... is that a poem Rohan wrote, and if not, what is it called?

#2: when Rohan first goes to work for his father at the factory, he is introduced to Mr. Rao and shakes his hand. Then his father, being the typical prick he is, says "he is older than you". At that point, Rohan reaches down and grabs something, then wipes his hand on his shirt. It looked like he was grabbing Mr. Rao's penis. Can anyone explain this?

Rohan was respectfully touching the feet of the older employee. This is common (more traditional than shaking hands) in India, but generally rather than literally bending all the way down to touch an elder's feet you would just bend about halfway.

And to answer your first question: yes, the poem was written by Rohan himself.
