I met a Dane who sounded like he was from Tyneside, when he spoke English, because that's where he learned it. Would you say he had "the worst fake English accent", then?
Did you ever hear David McCallum's "Russian accent" in the TV show? He made a feeble attempt in the first season or two, and then gave up the effort entirely. I think Armie did a great job on it, copying REAL Russian accents he'd heard on the Internet.
(In the '60s, of course, they would never have hired a real Russian actor for the role, because people were too paranoid that he would be a spy. At least Armie has Russian ancestry.)

No, his accent sounds like a good American speaker but by no means native German.
