Ex-Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno writer's book disses Conan O'Brien

"He has been on the air for 22 years, but he still has the same nervous tics he had in 1993," Jon Macks says of the "Conan" host in his book, "Monologue: What Makes America Laugh . . . Before Bed."

reply

So in other words... a Leno writer can't come up with anything original.

reply

Jon Macks....a writer nobody has EVER heard of writes a book?

How many books could this guy sell???

reply

All of the late night hosts have nervous tics. Also, who is this guy and why is he writing a book? Conan's ex-writers have careers after his show like Louis CK and Bob Odenkirk.

reply

“At bedtime people want to ease into sleep,” Macks adds, saying that “for some people [O’Brien] is hard to watch onstage.”

Well that explains it. Leno is boring and puts people to sleep, in part thanks to this idiot's terrible joke writing.

reply

That's funny. I watch for entertainment, not to fall asleep. For sleepy time I watch an ASMR video. What a bunch of maroons.

I always thought that was funny that people said they watched Leno because it was comfortable before going to sleep. I don't consider that a compliment. When I watch Conan I get energized.

I will also add that in however many years Leno was on, he got worse at interviewing - he just rushed it along and "uh huh uh huh" - you could tell he could care less.
