Tried too hard to be "cool" is what I was implying. In real life, no kid is going to risk the rest of his life for 1 night of awesomeness unless he's a complete dumbass. Teenagers are pretty damn stupid but no rationally thinking young adult is stupid enough to risk everything they have just to become "in" with the idiots at his school. #Stupid
share1. The kids aren't portrayed to be smart, so they are indeed the implausibly dumb, as you accused. It's ridiculous for it to have gotten that far, and that is the point of the movie. Posting a comment on a board about it is taking it too serious. The film wasn't aiming high in the first place.

no kid is going to risk the rest of his life for one night of awesomeness??? i'd say just for starters that all the kids who drink and drive only to end up killing people and/or themselves puts a huge hole in that theory, mate. and i'm not even referring to the obvious idiots, that includes otherwise intelligent kids who in all liklihood would have gone on to be successful adults. i knew one lad who drove drunk and plowed into a parked car. he's a medical facility administrator now! a great many high school lads live in the moment, don't think about consequences and believe they are indestructible. and many of them are ones who get good marks and will go on to be regular family guys with good jobs later.
