Metallica
Did anybody else suspect that this movie was the inspiration for Metallica's 2013 concert/story film "Through the Never"?
The reason I ask is that the riot at the end of this movie involves a badass guy with a flamethrower, riot cops, police on horseback, and general pandemonium. All with Metallica's "Battery" playing on the soundtrack.
Project X was released in March 2012. Metallica's "Through the Never" was released in September/October 2013, and filmed at concerts that took place just over a year earlier, i.e. several months after Project X was released.
The narrative of "Through the Never" involves rioting thugs, guys on horseback, generalized destruction.
It struck me that, popular though they continue to be after 30+ years, and though they continue to play to sold-out venues, Metallica were inspired to try to reach a new, younger audience because of this film, and ended up borrowing some of its visuals for "Through the Never".
Anybody else notice this connection?
