This movie had basically the same exact premise as No Strings Attached (NSA), but NSA MADE a ton more money then this movie did, and had less of a budget. Why would no one see this popcorn floc, and everyone saw that close to garbage flic?

Actually as far as worldwide box office goes, Friends with Benefits made more, about 150 million worldwide and NSA did about 147 million. Plus, NSA didn't open against much competition like Friends with Benefits did against Capt. America, and Harry Potter just being released, plus Friends with Benefits didn't open in as many theaters, ....so Friends with Benefits actually did pretty well all things considered.
Good to know, personally I think Natelie Portman is a better actess then Mila Kunis, but I thought FwB was a whole lot better movie then NSA. I actually wonder why Portman did the movie NSA, I wouldnt think she needs the money and she seems like she at least tries to pick and choose good roles to bennefit her career and NSA was neither a good role, nor was it really bennefitial to her career. (not really negative but not really posative either)

Very true. When I watched Thor, every time I saw her I thought to myself "why is she in this? This seems more like a Megan fox kinda gal role." Certainly not what I expect from someone who I think is one of the best actresses in Hollywood

FWB made a little bit more money, but considering the circumstances, its not that impressive -- it was not only a summer release (the other was released during the beginning of the year) but Timberlake and Kunis promoted the f-ck out of this film.
It isn't like NSA wasn't promoted either. That is pretty standard stuff. As for the release dates, a summer date can help, but it depends on the circumstance. In this case the advantage clearly went to NSA. First of all there was no competition when NSA hit the box office. While FWB opened in the middle of the summer blockbuster season against some of the top grossing films of the year. Plus, FWB had the distinct disadvantage of coming out after NSA. The films were in production at the same time, but NSA beat them to the punch with the release date and it totally affected the FWB box office simply because of the backlash of people saying why pay for a movie they felt like they just saw. And you combine that with the fact that NSA opened in more theaters and stayed in more theaters for several more weeks then FWB and that adds up to FWB did pretty damn well all things considered.
A Rom com rarely does big box office. In recent years the only rom com that did was "The Proposal"....typically rom coms do in the 30 to 50 million range domestically so FWD did just fine. Especially for a world wide box office of 150 million. That is well above average. For what it's worth FWB did significantly better then NSA in DVD sales as well. I think it helps that FWB is just a better film and reviewed much better then NSA.
I actually did like this movie... The dialogue is witty and while Im not usually a Justin Timberlake fan, he was funny in this. Mila, as always, was hot too and they play off eachother very well. Ive seen this movie about 5 or 6 times now. haha
