USA is Too Greedy To Put This Old Horse Down

In the beginning, the whole plot of this show was how Harvey and Mike were passing Mike off as an attorney. They rode that pony until it dropped and season 6 and 7 was all about Mike becoming a real live lawyer, sorta like Pinocchio. The final episode of season 7 seemed to put a bow on everyone's story: The firm was stable, Mike and Rachel got married and rode off into the sunset to do good, Louis got back with Sheila, Harvey and his (awful) girlfriend broke up, and it looked like he and Donna just *might* be riding off into a sunset of their own.

But no, someone thought the could wring a bit more juice out of the Meghan Markle train. One if the best things about Suits (IMO) was the evolving relationship between Mike and Harvey. Mike had no father or big brother to bond with and rebel against. His relationship with Harvey was about becoming an honorable man.

Instead of letting things come to an organic conclusion, they add that TV series poison, Katherine Heigel. After she left that doctor show, she never met a TV series that she couldn't shut down. Yeah, I'm done with this show. I really enjoyed it the first few seasons but now I'm done.

RIP Suits.

It's been crappy since around season 4 or 5 though, when it moved away from case-of-the-week stuff to overarching plots and scenes that amounted to little more than Harvey saying "we're done!" and walking out of the room, or Mike calling someone a P.O.S. as he threw a file on to their desk, which they'd open, read one sentence of, and fully understand in its entirety.

Then Rachel would whine, Donna would solve everyone's problems, and Louis would screw up again.

I miss the banter between Mike and Harvey. They were the primary reason why I began watching "Suits". When I heard they were renewing it for an eighth season, I thought to myself, "Why in the world is USA still dragging this series out? It had a proper conclusion in the final episode of the seventh season. Heck, even the sixth season finale sufficed."

The ratings must still be good. Hopefully the spinoff with Gina Torres (Jessica Pearson) will be a breath of fresh air, but I'm not putting too much stock into it.

Maybe "Second City" will be the nail that finally puts this show to rest. Now USA has something to fill the void.
