Tom could still be born

Jodie was still born so Tom could still be born. If you go by the theory that each character had to born under the exact same circumstances as before the cabin, down to the same egg and sperm, than Jodie would probably not have existed.
Changing the past by saving Hans makes it unlikely that Samantha and Adam had sex under the exact same cicumstance that produced Jodie the 1st time round. Yet Jodie is still born. So maybe Tom can still be born even if it doesn't happen the way that it did before.
It not as likely but I really want Tom to get his chance.

Maybe she adopts him?

I don't think, therefore I am not.

I don't think there was anything in the movie's end to really suggest that Tom is never born: Samantha and Jody are scattering Hans' ashes at the ocean before he would have been born*, so he might just come along later still. I do think it would have been nice if the movie had ended the following year so they could have shown the two women with baby Tom with them.

* At least I think so - the newspaper headline mentioning Hans' death was from 1985. Jody killed the clerk in 1985 (her coat's tag said it was made in 1985) and is executed when Tom is 8 months old, so odds are decent he wasn't born until 1986 and her put to death sometime in the first half of 1987.

I figured it the same way I assumed she was either about to get prego or in the first few months of it.

But his mom would need to be involved with Kevin, and Kevin is with another girl. It makes sense that he's not there considering what happened to him before he was transported to the cabin.

I think this is one of the best movies I have ever seen in terms of creativity.

My theory is, the guy she claimed was Toms father, Kevin, wasn't really Toms father - she cheated on Kevin or whatever with a guy who treated her nicely... and claimed Kevin was the father when he WASN'T. So, in her "better" reality she eventually meets Tom's real dad, who was never Kevin, and still conceives Tom =D

nice theory!!  I had not even thought of that, but it would make all the pieces fit together. And it would sort of make sense, in terms of Jody's personality. You might be right!!

For Grave Encounters... I'm Lance Preston.

I've had some time to rethink your theory, and now see the possibility. Considering the gene pool and people having look-a likes, Jodie and her boyfriend could have another Tom in looks.

I certainly hope Tom does get born. He was a good guy and he helped save Hans.

In future, can you consider the person who hasn't seen the film before picking a post title. It's not hard to come up with something that indicates your topic and attracts attention whilst suggesting absolutely nothing about the mysterious elements of the plot.

reply

In future dont look at the message boards before watching the film. It's not hard to figure out that there are going to be spoilers.

And actually it's near on impossible to come up with non spoiler title for a thread when the subject you want to discuss is a main plot point or element of the film.

Not rude, it's the truth lol... why are you looking on the message board of a movie you haven't seen yet and not expect to see a spoiler! Gees.
