I’ve heard people suggest Avatar 2 may be a box office bomb. I doubt it, but I don’t think the film will be as massive as the first film. I predict 1.3-1.8 billion gross.
shareI would say at least 2 billion. Avatar was a truly ground breaking movie which is why it made so much money. I am not sure how this will be different. 3D is not a box office draw anymore and the story was over in 2009.
I honestly think it could go either way... this film is going to have to make a lot of money to recoup its budget and I’m just not sure the audience will be out for it. I can see it opening huge but having no legs - unless it is actually good or breaks new ground in which case word of mouth could keep it going.
Or, it could be huge. Who knows. It won’t come close to the first film, though. I’m not sure many movies ever will now that streaming is so dominant.
sequels generally make less the first one but i agree with you
