Mortal Kombat Annihilation

Granted, the first film was not Oscar worthy material in any sense, but you could feel the energy and fun of a middle age and young cast to compensate for bad science and over the top situations and plot. This movie, like MK:A suffers of sequel fatigue. It was obvious Emmerich got tired to re-adjust the script to accomodate the absence of Will Smith, and the pressure of the studio to fill the schedule. The acting was poor by the young cast and unusually stale for Jeff, Pullman, and at some extent without Brent Spinner the movie could have been a complete snoozefest. The ending for some reason looked ridiculous and sort of rushed compared to the plot of the first film on how to disable the alien mothership (using a macbook to upload a virus vs killing the alien queen to kill all the aliens).

Perhaps it was because most of the film was shot in a studio instead of natural settings, but it just felt very cheap instead of greater than life compared to the first film. I think I felt the same way with Mortal Kombat sequel, granted the first one kept an open ending but it all boils down to the story for both sequels was not well developed, and the actors didn't felt to have fun doing the film like the first movie.

At least I am glad there are no plans for a Stargate sequel, I'd rather still watch the Marvelized version of the TV series on Netflix.
