I don't really blame Chris Evans, he was as poor as expected and never going to win over the fan base.

My biggest gripe is with the production is that we were expecting an explosive, all bells and whistles, cars parachuting from outterspace with chimpanzee in tuxedos as co drivers type extravaganza from the 1st episode but it was seriously dull to watch.

The charm of top gear was seeing the presenters at work enjoying the best job in the world, what could we got was an american in a reliant robin strapped to a recovery truck being driving to a dull Blackpool in the cold and wet?? I lost interest because i actually felt sorry for the Matt.

And a word about Matt, he is as bad a selection as Evans, An American is never going to win over the British public on a prime time motoring show, they lack a sense of local knowledge and humor that made top gear what it was famous for.

My advise, keep the ginger hosting for the 1st season, he will eventually quit himself, The yanks spot should be rotated with a pool celebrity presenters from show to show, they will eventually find a combination that will work.

I think Chris's enthusiasm is sincere and I think he's trying his best. He's just not the right stuff.
