Top Gear America

I just saw the fanale of top Gear USA on Youtube. It was a tour of Cuba Special.
While original TG was on, the USA version seemed awful. Now the TG USA Cuba special seemed pretty good compared to the revamped Brit version.
I'm thinking maybe they jumped the gun canceling TG USA. At least until they sort out the original.

Not so terrible by comparison is still terrible. I'm another Yank that loves the Clarkson TopGear. This new version is terrible and I'm surprised the American version lasted as long as it did.

I couldn't watch the American version (I'm American too). No surprise it was cancelled. The guys were all tools and had no chemistry. Weren't funny at all. They missed the boat (I mean car) completely. Rather than try a slightly different approach, it was like watching an amateur variety show trying to copy The formula to a Tee.

You didn't have to even like cars to watch the old Top Gear with Clarkson and Co. Now it's more like car geekery. I didn't watch the Evans/LeBlanc version either. I saw about 5 min when my GF was watching and immediately I couldn't stand that Chris Evans dude. Never heard of him, but he's so F*&*ing loud, ugly and annoying, I could never sit through watching him. Matt Le Blanc is ok in general, but seems an odd choice to host. Couldn't even tell you who the third guy was.

There is just no replacing the original 3. I have to wonder if someone at the BBC was casting these guys as a joke/revenge, so that the show would fail miserably and they would have to bring back the old guys and tell the execs "I told you so".

I only ever saw the first season of Top Gear USA which was enough to keep me from ever tuning in again. But I heard they ended up dropping the Top Gear formula and it stopped being a car show and just focused on challenges and nonsense and souping up cars in silly ways. And we already got a hundred shows like that.

"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"
