What surprises me about the TG trio, in particular Clarkson.

Maybe all three, but especially him, seems to have no actual dirty hands knowledge of car mechanics...when one of their cars breaks down, as with the used BMW M5 they bought and drove across Syria/Israel etc which broke down, Clarkson appears to know as much about car breakdowns and be about as handy, as the average American soccer-mom.

It's another item on a longish and ever growing list which helps make him so *beep* annoying to me.

I'm not PC, I'm really not, sexist, racist all by today's standards I tick most of the deplorables boxes in fact (oddly enough though pretty Far-right I'm a cyclist, which I know Clarkson hates, I imagine most of the "lycra Nazis" also loathe him)

But some number plate on a car in Argentina which is an abstract reference to Falklands War? something referring to a Vulcan bomber or Asuncion Island , or even Belgrano or Conqueror or something?
Really???
Oddly enough I'm probably in the less than 1% of the population which even knows what any of that is, but I don't think it was remotely *beep* funny and if he got into real trouble over it, would only have himself to blame.I would not have blamed one of the panchos if they took exception and smacked his silly big arse for him.

James May, at least, seems to be mechanically inclined. I've no idea how skilled he is, but he seems to genuinely enjoy getting oil under his fingernails.

Make tea, not war. 🌈

yeah, I actually like him, and his Airfix kits and toys challenges stuff.
There was a lot of stuff nostalgic to me packed into that little show about Airfix, and he knew exactly how to do it with the time he had.

and the little motorcycle one, Hamilton or what his name is...obviously both clever men...no disputing that.

I think you are over analyzing this. The BMW M5 is a high tech car, the one Jeremy drove already had some electronic assistance. When he has driven older cars/cheaper/less electronics/computer gadgets, just basic engine and gas/oil stuff he has done some repairs.

Although the thing is, he is a journalist who is driving cars. He isnt really into fixing cars, his into driving them. Im pretty sure there are lot of petrol heads who dont exactly repair their cars.
