Those glad Johnny Depp didn't get the role, do they now wish he had?

I let out a big sigh of relief that the lead role did not end up in Depps hands because he always gets roles like this, and it gets bit stale. It's also time for some newer, fresher actors to get the good parts.

Franco to me seemed like a rather inspired gamble, but after seeing the finished product I think Depp would have been so much better suited to this movie, partly due to his somewhat resemblance the late actor in the 1939 film , also it would have been the perfect showcase for his effortless quirky charm to shine forth - I think he would have excelled the film had he been cast.

It also would have meant that banshee he always seems to shoe horn in with him would have gotten a role too.

Depp sucked as Wonka and in Aloce (I say that as someone who loves his earlier work - Ed Wood is one of my fav films too). The film wouldn't have been any better with Depp in it.

I'm actually cool with James Franco getting the part instead. Johnny Depp would've probably played it as a parody of his former movies.

Johnny Depp would have done a much better job. Franco came across as someone who needed a bath and super smug.I think he was going for charm but was a total fail.
