All the Final Destination movies follow the same formula?

I watched all the films again recently in consecutive order. And I realized that the films follow the same formula. Where the lead character who has the premonition is the one to survive until the very end.

I thought of an idea for future films (if they remake or continue the franchise).
How about the lead character who is the one to receive the premonitions, is the character that dies first, and once he/she actually dies first, the others have to figure out the clues for themselves. Though we the audience do see the order of deaths for the characters (by the premonition), but the characters themselves are unaware of the order. The character with the premonitions doesn't tell the others before his/her death.

So essentially the character whom we assumed is the lead (one with premonitions) isn't actually the lead protagonist. Would this work? Or would it be too complicated?
