that blue stuff? (spoilers i guess)

when the guys first rob the bank, and then again at the end of the movie, what is the blue stuff that shoots out of the money bag and what is the point? is it just paint? is it supposed to identify them as the thieves?

reply

It's a dye pack. It's used to permanently stain the money (rendering it useless) and to mark the thief.

Real life ones also spray out a large, burning hot, colorful smoke to mark its location. I once heard a story of a robber who put one down his pants and ran out of the bank. Boy, did he get a nice surprise ;)

Banks often have bags with blue dye set up for robberies, so that when the bag is opened, the money is rendered useless and if they try to use it, they'll be identified as robbers.

DAMN YOU SANDRA!!!

It's a dye pack. The idea is that you mark the person who stole the money as well as ruining the money in the bag.
