thats the best name they could come up with for an Indian guy. No Indian parent would ever name their kid Chet

maybe the character had a name before Aziz was cast, and they realized it would be infinitely more racist to change the name now, simply cuz it's an indian guy.

or maybe just maybe, it's not too ridiculous for an American who happens to be of Indian descent to have a typical American name.

but i'm just thinking outside of the box here.

Obviously the parents aren't up to speed on trendy names (likely if they're immigrants). That or they wanted the closest male equivalent of Kate.

Chet was the name of the older brother played by Bill Paxton in Weird Science that was turned into that toad thing. This has absolutely nothing to do with this thread or even this movie. I just remembered the name, Chet, from Weird Science and decided to make a pointless post about it.

You must not know many Indians. I know many and I can say that most go by shortened names, so Chet could be short for anything.
