Best D&D inspired movie to date!

In my opinion the best movie inspired by D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) to date, which isn't saying that much, but still. And I don't understand all the hate that this movie is getting. That is not to say that it's a classic or anything, but it's still a fun movie to watch if you like the genre. Not every movie has to be worthy of getting an 7/8 out of 10 to make it fun to watch. Hell a lot of successful movies aren't worthy of that IMO.

Aside from the fact that Kaulder (Vin Diesel's character in the movie) was inspired by Vin Diesel's AD&D character, I thought that they did a very good job of showing D&D concepts in a modern setting. From the way potions and magical items and ingredients are used, to the illusions and charms, to flaming swords (I also liked that they used some kind of oil instead of magic), to the witches looking like D&D hags. And not to forget the portrayal of a (dimension) portal like spell with the walls and floors opening up into some kind of demon dimension. I particularly liked how that was done! Oh and I almost forgot the dragon breath/burning hands like spell that was used. It's very cool, and the way I'm imagining that spell cast from now on in my D&D games!

I gotta say.. your comment that not all movies have to be 7, 8 out of 10 or better, to be fun to watch, let alone even watchable! Not for nothing thats a great point! Bc there are countless movies in the 6 range (2 stars, give or take a 1/2) that are definitely fun to watch.. have a following and a pretty big fan base!!
So many people get so caught up expecting the best and lose focus on just enjoying the movie (granted there are some movies that are just so bad its annoying...lol)

It's hated because they rolled a D20 and Elijah Wood's character very randomly flipped sides. Up to then, he was a very entertaining character. That one move kinda killed any sensibility this film had.
