Didn't hate it, didn't love it
All said and done I did enjoy it, even with the flaws, in script and otherwise... I could imagine this as a tv series...
Mila Kunis cannot carry this film, I mean everyone is professional and works around her immaturity, but it's impossible not to see that this film could have been better if they didn't have to.
It had to be a young innocent girl who doesn't know much... so Mila does fit that, but the problem is she IS that, so she can't act it that well... think Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind, she could transcend the role to play it at all levels, so when the character goes from immature to strong, she pulls it off... but Mila hasn't taken that journey, so she can't pull it off... so ya, I think they needed a better young actress
The script is often incredibly stupid too, with someone swooping in at the last second to save someone, like 3-4 times... which is awful... I hate when they do that
1. Less cliched stupid moments, like someone swooping in to save you at the last second which Jupiter did many times.
2. Better acting... Mila challenged herself here, but still comes off as very juvenile and does not carry the film well, everyone has to work around her, and if they didn't have to, it might have been better.
3. Rather forgettable ending... it should have ended with more fanfare
4. Too many Xanadu rollerblading in the sky scenes, kind of ridiculous.
