JH: Was there a lot of research going to the comic book [Plastic Man] for that?
LW: We had read the comic book. We sort of thought it might be a funny idea. It's probably the closest script to a comedy we'll write. We thought it could be kind of cool. The basic idea we came up with was that he would be an environmentalist, almost like an Earth First-er type guy. The funny scene we thought of that was kind of the start of it all was like he goes to the bathroom after he becomes Plastic Man and his urine is no longer bio-degradable so he like wants to kill himself.
2003 interview with the composer of The Matrix trilogy:
MCN: I can't imagine what a Wachowski comedy would look like.
DD: I was told that Larry and Andy once were asked to attend a pitch meeting for a major motion picture with a big star attached. They listened to the pitch, until the producer said, 'And it will have a lot of laughs," at which point they got up, and said, 'We don't do funny,' and left the room.
But that was ages ago and they have since started putting funny moments in their movies (Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas, yes even Jupiter Ascending).

"The Ghastly Ordeal of Timothy Cavendish" part (of the total 6) of CA was written as a comedy, again based on the source material.
JA had funny moments eg Jupiter's family, the pad, the bureaucracy scene. Producer Grant Hill (who has produced all their films since The Matrix Reloaded) suggested a couple of times that the Wachowskis were consciously trying to make it more lighthearted than usual and hoped audiences would enjoy that aspect.
When Jupiter had to go through a paper mill to get officially recognized as an Entitled was funny. Particularly when the lawyer meets a clerk that is the same type robot, and when he has to bribe the last clerk. Some of the interactions between Jupiter and Cain had a little humor as well.

I had to laugh at the scene where Jupiter gets her "title" at the DMV of the universe or the title place or whatever it was.
Anyone ever dealt with house title issues? Even the quick flash of the List posted on the wall of the legal forms you could apply for there was quite true. And placed in that movie scene seemed quite humorous to me indeed.
And that they finally had to Bribe the clerk to even get "her majesty" her "title" was the best part!
