Did anyone else feel bad for........

Naomi Watts. She really got the short end of the stick in this film. She really didn't really have anything to do in this film but basically say "yes edgar", "Ok edgar". I understand that she was probably excited to work with Clint Eastwood and Leo Dicaprio but what a crap role. My mom couldn't believe Naomi would take this role and neither could I. She didn't get not a single chance to shine. Even Judi Dench had a few. I was excited to see her and the role kinda sucked.

I thought she gave a remarkable performance.

The role mirrors the life of the character. Considering her loyalty to Hoover for so many years, I think Watts nailed the essence of such a role.

Agreed. Furthermore, you have a well respected director behind this film... too many people complain that more about Hoover wasn´t revealed, failing to accept that there is no solid evidence that he was gay, black, liked to dress in womenś clothes, etc... and Eastwood kept the film as close to what can be easily proven or verified, didn´t take ¨speculative¨ leaps on Hoover´s life/life style and that is I think I most enjoyed the film. It wasn´t a ¨tabloid-type¨ film.

Yes thank you. I was just shocked at how little she had to do. In no way was I saying i thought she was bad. I think naomi Watts is good in pretty much everything ( dream house was eh, fair game she was outstanding)

reply

Who cares? She got paid good money for not a lot of work. That's a great role if you ask me.

reply

I couldn't characterize my thoughts as feeling 'bad' for her but I do know what you mean. She did a lot with a little, and I thought she was fantastic so I have to disagree with your remark .."she didn't get a chance to shine"

All the acting in this movie was excellent and I can't believe no one got nominated but the Academy is too difficult to predict so I gave up on that

reply

She took the role willingly, presumably after reading the script. Why should we feel bad for her?
