Deporting American Citizens
Where does a native-born American get deported to??

I understand your point, but what country do you speculate would take them? Tis a conundrum.
shareI think that a better way of putting it is that they are banish-ed. Getting Shakespearean on your ass.
shareI'm guessing an isolated colony of France, England/Canada, Holland, Belgium. Falkland Islands, Canary Islands. Or maybe somewhere like Switzerland. Maybe Panama, Peru, or Argentina
shareLove the reference to Vondie Curtis-Hall's way of pronouncing "banished". Could listen to that all day.

I don't think you all understand. You can't deport American born citizens, even if they have dual citizenship. If that were the case don't you think they would get rid of worse people, like serial killers? What country do you think would open their doors to such 'troublemakers'? You can however deport citizens that have been granted citizenship by revoking their given citizenship (of course non citizens would just be shown the door). Emma Goldman was born in Lithuania not in the USA.
shareIt was a rhetorical question and you illuminated my point exactly. Hoover was making empty threats. American citizens can be jailed, but not deported.
shareYes, I guessed your question was asked 'tongue in cheek' and so were the replies. Except for DonM, can't tell if he's being serious or not.
shareEmma Goldman, who was a US citizen, as mentioned in the movie, was deported to the USSR.
shareDid you actually READ my post? I said they couldn't deport AMERICAN BORN citizens! I also said that they could revoke citizenship from someone that had been granted it, and THEN deport them.
shareYes. I was just commenting on what is referred to in the film.
shareI'm sure they could falsify records, if they felt the target in question was THAT much of a threat... :-D

I doubt it, once again don't you think they would do that to anyone they wanted to get rid of. How could they falsify a birth record? This isn't a communist country, they don't make people or records disappear!
shareGiven how many people they'd probably like to get rid of, making it an SOP is likely a bit suspicious... but for the occasional troublemaker here and there, why not, eh!
Not like it'd be the first time official documentation was doctored, or anything. I guess it mostly depends how well documented a person is and whether they could find a country to deport them to, or not.
But if they really wanted to get rid of someone, I'm sure there are plenty of easier ways. :-D

They could always make them 'disappear' Mafia style!
shareAye, I daresay that's happened on the odd occasion, as well!!

No,they deported people that weren't born in US. US citizens were just blacklisted.
