"Many Clint Eastwood Movies Stink...This is One of Them..."

Not only that...his Scorcese/DeNiro type fixation on using Leo DiCaprio for most if not all his movies over the past 15 years...is ridiculous. Scorcese had a genre of movies DeNiro fit...Eastwood puts DiCaprio in just about everything he can think of. To DiCaprio's credit, he tries to do the best he can and he is a wonderful actor, but I just didn't get the same darkness or gravitas I think J. Edgar Hoover deserved. One thing I will say positive about this movie - I got a sense of the imortance of loyalty to Hoover and his exceptional organizational skills. But the movie moved too slow, was too long and again DiCaprio was not a convincing Hoover.

Easy to take this as a troll post, but I won't. It appears as if you're confused.
'J. Edgar' is the first (and as of writing, the only) Clint Eastwood directed picture that Dicaprio has been featured in. I think you're getting Eastwood mixed up with Scorsese, whom you did mention before. Dicaprio is Scorsese's new DeNiro and - with the exception of 'Hugo' - has been in all of Marty's feature films since 'Gangs of New York' in 2002.

Yeah. That's how I feel about Diane Keaton and the Coen brothers...;)

On first viewing J Edgar I thought it was pretty bad. But after watching it a few times I changed my mind. It's more aimed at people who think instead of feel movies.

And Eastwood's musical scoring is beautiful, among his best.

Here's a good article about J Edgar, the FBI director and this film.

The Hollywood left doesn't like Clint Eastwood as he's manly, conservative, a tough guy, and shoots guns in his movies.

Enjoyed the movie and its depucruon of thw character in the contwxt of historical events.

It depends on the audience to pick up on the slippery slope from "protecting" the American people and reducing their liberty.

FYI, Mrs. Bruno Hauptmann lived out her years as a widow in Yeadon, PA. She died in a home in Honeybrook, PA, only a few years ago. All along, she retained an attorney to clear her husband's name. He was not successful.
