This movie was well forgotten

It honestly didn't take anybody anytime to forget this movie ever existed for it to have only been out almost two years go. I went and seen in once in the theater (usually I see Leo's movies twice) and then I found it on a website that shows movies which are still in theater's and skimmed over my favorite parts a couple of times and then that was it. I forget that Leo even made this movie to begin with. It's about as forgettable as Total Eclipse when it comes to Leo's career

I haven't watched it yet. I wasn't interested enough to go out of my way to get it, but since Clint Eastwood is a good director, I don't think I'd be opposed to it. Recently I managed to pick up the DVD super cheap. I'll try and get around to it sooner or later.

It's not that bad of a movie, but people didn't seem to care much about it making it forgettable. Clint basically used the same atmosphere as he did with "The Changeling" for this movie and I think it confused a lot of people who aren't famliar with J. Edgar because instead of them starting out the movie as young J.Edgar getting started and then working it up to him being a really old man, they basically tennis balled the story back and forth. One minute it would show him in the 60's then it would jump back to the 20's then to the 70's then back to the 30's so of course people couldn't catch on if they wasn't sure who J. Edgar was. I was actually the youngest person in my movie theater when I went and saw it. Everyone else looked like they were in their sixties and seventies.

I saw the movie tonight and I think that iMDB voters (as usual) have it right. It's about a 6 or a 7, or somewhere in between.

Decent acting by Leo and Hammer BUT... some terrible supporting performances (whoever played Robert Kennedy was atrocious) and mediocre story-telling bring the lead performances down. Not an awful movie, but not great either.

The FBI Story with James Stewart was more engaging.

This was as a very long History Channel type docudrama. Interesting to see once and that is it.

I realize it is because Hoover is not likable or interesting. I think a biopic main character needs to be one or the other for a film to be remembered.

I thought it was great. The topic is pretty sobering so the brown tones and quiet musicwere appropriate.
