Not as Savage as NBK

Tries to be violent in Natural Born Killers way , but misses the mark. Seems like Stone really wanted to pass proposition 19 and make a good movie in the process.
Cartels are scary and real , But "Savages" make them out to be keystone cops of criminals. And most of that is due to Stone phoning in some black comedy. Whats sad is John Travolta is the best part movie, and hes only in it for mere 20 mins in this long running not so fun time burner. The most complex character was gave to Taler Kitch , who has some nifty action scenes, but over all he's about as likable as a lugnut in this movie.

Violent?!?!? What is wrong with you? This movie isn't violent. There isn't in the movie 1 gory violent scene. Do you see fingers being chopped off? NO! Do you see heads being decapited? NO! So there. You don't know what violent is! Are you 11? Go watch terrible movies full of bad taste like Hostel and Saw and then talk to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

Am I 11, no ? I never said there was zero violence, so stop being condescending.

Read all my points of criticism then come to me. Because I didn't focus solely on the violence alone.

reply

Well you're not clear, I did read all your points but it's a mess. Try to write better. What do you complain about after all? I thought the movie was really cool and fun to watch.... You complain the characters were not likeable? Why? You only like Travolta? Well NEWSFLASH dear, IT'S A DRUG QUARTEL. They are not exactly charming rich people or Mother Theresa. THEY KILL PEOPLE, RAPE PEOPLE, DECAPITATE PEOPLE, so yeah I'd say in real life they are not likeable and therefore they won't be likeable in the movie if the movie is somewhat realistic. Still I enjoyed the movie, it has good soundtrack, beautiful images, a good deep plot, full of twists, surprises, and a lot of interesting subjects.

Just out of respect for an incredible man I watched this, After I read the reviews. You folks were right all right. That one was a pretty big "Oh *beep* Kinda like Bruce Willis and his fantasy detective movie he made:-)

I don't think it was trying to be as violent as NBK. NBK was a "message" movie, the message was the over glorification of violence and the people who do that violence, through the media. Which actually would work more NOW than when it was first made. I think this movie was a great book and they tried too hard to make it too stylish. In the end, Savages was just another great idea movie, on paper, that couldn't transition on to film.

Considering Stone hasn't had a halfway entertaining movie since Any Given Sunday, I say Savages was at least a nod to his earlier, better work and shows he still has it in him to churn one out instead of re-re-re-releasing another crappy incantation of Alexander.
