A complete and utter pile of shoite
Just caught this on TV and said I'd give it ago because Stone used to be s director I had some admiration for and Del Toro is cool, and Salma Hayek is smoking. Good lord, I regretted it after 10 mins. I don't think I've ever seen a film that forced such unlikable, vacuous, downright boring protagonists on us - and casting a trio of wooden planks in the roles did not exactly help matters.
Unsurprisingly, the best thing about it is Del Toro, playing an absolute scumbag of the highest order and doing it convincingly. Hayek is also very good as a ruthless drug lord. Both scum, but it says a lot that we're almost rooting for them over out trio of *beep* leads. Travolta is also decent.
I kept watching to see how it went down, and thought at least the ending had some balls.... then it was all in her bloody imagination! Seriously?? A rotten ending to a rotten film.
"I love a coward!"
